Because the United States Forest Service has closed Carson National Forest in New Mexico, for a portion of this program, the location has changed from New Mexico to the Alamos, Colorado area.

Any Pre-trip Orientation Meetings will take place on the Texas State campus in San Marcos.
Program Description and Details
Student will learn and apply principles and procedures for developing and leading recreation programs in a variety of specialized outdoor environments. This course is taught in cooperation with the Texas State University – Outdoor Center. Prerequisites: REC1330 Leisure and Outdoor Recreation.
This course requires a mandatory trip as a major component of the class. The trip dates are July 9th – 15th. During this time we will be traveling to New Mexico to go backpacking. You will not have access to internet or cell phone during this time. If you do not attend the trip, you will not be able to achieve the objectives of the class.
Admission is selective, and space is limited.
REC 4335 - Outdoor Recreation Programming
Students will earn up to three (3) credit hours by registering for this course.
Tuition and Program Fee
Tuition for three hours of undergraduate university credit: $774.99
Program Fee: $400.00
Important Note: Personal expenses are not included in the Program Fee.
Course tuition and the Program Fee will be billed to your regular Texas State account and paid through SBS Billing and Payment.
